Indian Army Agniveer CEE 2026 – Photo & Signature Requirements

The Indian Army Agniveer Common Entrance Examination (CEE) 2026 is conducted under the Agnipath Scheme by the Indian Army (Bhartiya Sena) for the recruitment of young citizens as Agniveers — short-service soldiers serving a 4-year tenure. With lakhs of youth applying every cycle, the Indian Army's online application portal at joinindianarmy.nic.in is one of India's most accessed recruitment portals.

Unlike most other government exam portals, the Army's photo requirements are unique in several ways: the photo is required in a portrait 3.5 × 4.5 cm format (413 × 531 pixels at 300 DPI) rather than the typical 200×230px used by SSC or Railway. The file size must be kept between a strict 20 KB minimum and 50 KB maximum. Additionally, both the candidate's name and the date of the photograph must be printed at the bottom of the photo — this is an Army-specific requirement that catches many first-time applicants off guard.

Our Agniveer Photo Resizer Tool is pre-configured with all these Army specifications. It handles the resize, compression, and name/date overlay automatically — producing an Army-portal-ready JPEG in under 10 seconds, 100% inside your browser with no server upload.

Agnipath Scheme – Complete Guide for Aspirants

The Agnipath Scheme was launched by the Government of India in June 2022 as a transformative military recruitment policy for the three Armed Forces — Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force. Youth recruited under this scheme are designated as Agniveers (meaning "brave/fire warriors"). The scheme represents a major shift in how India's armed forces recruit and retain personnel.

Key Features of the Agnipath Scheme

⏱️ Service Period

Agniveers serve for a fixed tenure of 4 years (including training). At the end of 4 years, up to 25% of each batch may be retained as regular soldiers based on performance, merit, and organizational requirements.

💰 Seva Nidhi Package

Upon completion of the 4-year service, non-retained Agniveers receive a tax-free Seva Nidhi corpus of approximately ₹11.71 lakh. This includes their monthly contribution and an equal matching contribution from the government.

🏦 Monthly Salary

Year 1: ₹30,000/month (in-hand: ₹21,000 after 30% deduction). Year 4: ₹40,000/month. Additionally, Risk & Hardship allowance is paid as applicable for the posting area.

Agniveer Monthly Pay Structure (All 4 Years)

YearCustomised Package (Monthly)In-hand Pay (After 30% Deduction)Contribution to Seva Nidhi (Monthly)

Physical Fitness Training – How to Prepare for PFT

Physical performance is as critical as the written exam. Many candidates clear CEE but fail PFT due to inadequate physical preparation. Start physical training at least 3–4 months before the expected PFT dates.

🏃 1.6 KM Run in 5:45 (GD Standard)

  • Week 1–2: Jog 2–3 km daily at comfortable pace
  • Week 3–4: Introduce interval training — 400m sprints with 60 sec rest
  • Week 5–8: Full 1.6 km timed runs — target 5:30 for safety margin
  • Race day tip: Start at a controlled pace for first 400m, then gradually increase speed
  • Breathing technique: Breathe in through nose (2 counts), out through mouth (2 counts)

💪 Pull-Ups Target – 10 Reps

  • Week 1–2: Dead hangs (30 sec holds) + assisted pull-ups or negative pull-ups
  • Week 3–4: 3 sets of maximum reps daily
  • Week 5–8: 4–5 sets targeting 8–12 reps each set with 2 min rest
  • Grip: Use pronated (overhand) grip — same as Army standard
  • Full range of motion — chin above bar each time, full extension at bottom
💡 Physical Training Tip: Start a structured physical training routine at least 4 months before you expect PFT dates. Many Agniveer aspirants focus only on written exam and neglect physical fitness — only to fail at PFT after clearing CEE. Both are equally important. Practice the 9-feet ditch jump and zig-zag balance separately as they are qualifying but easy to fail if untrained.

Common Agniveer Photo Upload Mistakes & How to Fix Them

Thousands of Agniveer applicants face application form errors every cycle due to photo and signature specification mistakes. The Army portal validator is strict, and manual document verification further scrutinizes photos. Here are the most common errors and their exact fixes:

Mistake 1 – Photo Above 50KB

The Army's maximum file size of 50KB is stricter than most other exams (which allow 100KB or 200KB). Smartphone photos are 2–8MB. Simply renaming or saving the file does not reduce its size. Fix: Upload to our Agniveer Photo Resizer — it auto-compresses to within 50KB.

Mistake 2 – Photo Below 20KB

Like RRB Group D, the Army enforces a minimum file size too. Over-compressed photos fall below 20KB. Fix: Our tool maintains the file within the 20–50KB window automatically using iterative compression.

Mistake 3 – Name & Date Not on Photo

This is the most uniquely Army-specific mistake. Candidates who upload plain passport photos without the printed name and date find their applications flagged during document verification. Fix: Use the "Add Name & Date" tab on our tool before downloading. This overlays both at the bottom of the photo automatically.

Mistake 4 – Wrong Dimensions (200×230px or Other)

Using a photo sized for SSC (200×230px) or RRB (320×240px) for the Agniveer application — which requires 413×531px — results in a distorted photo on the admit card. Fix: Our Agniveer Photo Resizer pre-sets to exactly 413×531px (3.5×4.5 cm at 300 DPI).

Mistake 5 – HEIC or PNG Format

iPhone photos default to HEIC. The Army portal only accepts JPEG. Fix: Our tool accepts any format (JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC-converted) and outputs JPEG. For HEIC, convert using our HEIC to JPG Converter first.

Mistake 6 – Wearing Uniform or Camouflage Clothes

Some aspirants wear military-style clothing in photos thinking it creates a good impression. This is incorrect and can lead to rejection — you must wear civilian formal attire (white/light shirt) for the application photo. Fix: Always wear formal civilian clothing for government exam photos.

Mistake 7 – Signature in Block Capital Letters

Block/printed capital letter signatures are repeatedly rejected across all Army document verification stages. The Army is particularly strict about signature consistency. Fix: Use running cursive handwriting. Practice until consistent — Army verification officers will ask you to sign on-the-spot and compare.

Frequently Asked Questions – Indian Army Agniveer CEE 2026

What is the photo size for Indian Army Agniveer CEE 2026?
The Agniveer CEE 2026 passport photo must be 3.5 × 4.5 cm (413 × 531 pixels at 300 DPI), file size between 20 KB and 50 KB, in JPEG format with a plain white background. Additionally, your name and the date of the photo must be printed at the bottom. Our tool is pre-configured with all these Army specifications.
What is the signature size for Agniveer 2026?
The Agniveer signature must be 3.5 × 1.5 cm (413 × 177 pixels), file size between 10 KB and 20 KB, in JPEG format. Sign in black ink on plain white paper in running cursive handwriting. Block or printed capital letter signatures are rejected at document verification.
Is name and date mandatory on the Agniveer photo?
Yes. The Indian Army recruitment notification explicitly requires the candidate's full name and the date of taking the photograph to be printed at the bottom of the passport photo. This is unique to Army recruitment compared to most other government exams. Use our "Add Name & Date" tab to overlay these automatically before downloading.
When did Agniveer 2026 registration start and what is the last date?
Online registration for Agniveer CCE 2026 began on 13 February 2026. The last date to apply is 01 April 2026 and fee payment closes on 02 April 2026. The written examination is scheduled from 01 to 16 June 2026. Apply at joinindianarmy.nic.in.
What is the application fee for Agniveer 2026?
The application fee is ₹250 for all categories including General, OBC, EWS, SC, and ST. Payment can be made via Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking, IMPS, or Mobile Wallets on the official portal.
What is the Agnipath Scheme and what happens after 4 years?
The Agnipath Scheme is a 4-year short-service military recruitment scheme introduced in 2022. Recruited personnel (Agniveers) serve for 4 years and receive a competitive monthly salary. After 4 years, up to 25% are retained as regular soldiers. The remaining 75% receive a tax-free Seva Nidhi corpus of approximately ₹11.71 lakh plus a service certificate. They can then pursue higher education, state government jobs (where age relaxation and preference is given), PSU jobs, or entrepreneurship.
What are the physical standards for Agniveer GD?
Agniveer General Duty (GD) requires: Height 169 cm, Chest 77 cm (+5 cm expansion), 1.6 km run within 5 minutes 45 seconds (60 marks), 10 Pull-Ups (40 marks), 9-Feet Ditch (qualifying), and Zig-Zag Balance (qualifying). A minimum of 45% aggregate marks in Class 10th with 33% in each subject is required.
Can women apply for Agniveer recruitment?
As of the current Agniveer 2026 notification, women are not included in the Common Competitive Examination (CEE) under the Agnipath scheme for combat and support roles. However, the Indian Army does recruit women as officers through SSC-W (Short Service Commission – Women) and NCC Special Entry. Check joinindianarmy.nic.in for the most current recruitment updates for women.
My Agniveer photo is rejected as file too large. What to do?
The Army's maximum file size of 50KB is stricter than most other exams. Smartphone photos are 2–8MB and will always be rejected. Upload your photo to our Agniveer Photo Resizer — it automatically compresses to within the 20–50KB range. If the output is still too large, try a higher-resolution source photo as input.
How is the Agniveer CEE different from the Army Recruitment Rally?
Traditionally, Indian Army recruitment involved local Army Recruitment Rallies (ARO Rallies) where candidates appeared in person for physical tests first, followed by a written exam. Under the Agnipath Scheme, the CEE (Common Competitive Examination) is conducted online first as a written test, and only those who clear CEE are called for the Physical Fitness Test (PFT). This change benefits candidates who live far from rally centers by allowing online exam registration from anywhere.
Does this Agniveer photo tool work on mobile?
Yes, fully mobile-optimized. Works on Android Chrome and iPhone Safari. Upload from your phone gallery, resize to 413×531px, compress to 20–50KB, add name and date — all in under 10 seconds without any app installation. The downloaded file is immediately ready for upload to the Army portal.
Is my photo safe? Does it get uploaded to any server?
Your photo is 100% safe. All image processing happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript Canvas API. Your photo is never sent to any server, never stored, and no account is required. Closing the browser tab removes all traces immediately.
